The short version

Your files stay on your device. We collect anonymous usage events so we know which tools people use, and your email only if you type it into a form. That's it.

Your files

Every tool on LegacyFile runs entirely in your browser. When you drop a file into a converter or viewer, it is parsed by JavaScript running on your own device. The file is never uploaded, never sent to a server, and never seen by us. Close the tab and it's gone. We could not read your bank data even if we wanted to — there is no server-side processing to send it to.

Analytics

We use PostHog to collect basic usage events — things like "a file was dropped on the CSV to QBO tool" or "a conversion succeeded." These events carry only coarse, non-identifying properties such as a file-size bucket (e.g. "under 100 KB") or an error category. Our analytics code is deliberately written so that file contents, file names, and transaction data cannot be sent, even by accident.

Your email

We only have your email address if you give it to us — for example, to be notified when a new tool launches or to request a format. We use it for exactly that purpose, we don't sell it, and you can ask to be removed at any time.

Licenses and payments

If you buy a license, your license key is stored in your browser's local storage so tools stay unlocked. Payment is handled by our payment processor; we never see or store your card details.
